PixaTool is an offline, standalone software utility developed by Davit Masia of Kronbits that instantly converts standard images, textures, and videos into stylized pixel art and 8-bit graphics. It is heavily used by game developers, retro artists, and designers to quickly prototype 2D game assets, texture 3D models, or generate unique aesthetics for social media.

The application is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux and is primarily distributed through the Kronbits Itch.io Store. Key Features

Pixelation Controls: You can downscale and pixelate images up to 12x dynamically, adjusting both height and width independently to match distinct retro hardware limitations.

Palette Management: The software allows you to enforce strict color restrictions using pre-configured legendary retro palettes—such as the NES, Game Boy, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, and Pico-8—or load custom .pal files up to 192 colors.

Video Processing: Beyond static images, PixaTool supports real-time video editing and rendering, enabling users to convert clips into a fluid, animated pixel art style.

Dithering Effects: It offers customizable Bayer matrix dithering (2x, 4x, 8x) to simulate vintage color gradients and shading techniques.

Special FX tab: Includes advanced rendering tools like erosion, dilation, radial pixelation, and hexagonal pixel layouts to generate custom graphical styles.

Batch Processing: It handles large production pipelines seamlessly by converting batches of multiple assets simultaneously using custom, saveable presets. PixaTool by Kronbits – Itch.io
